The top 10 oddest things found at Unclaimed Baggage in 2024
People travel with the strangest things, and this year’s “Found Report” from the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, Ala., is undeniable proof of that.
Unclaimed Baggage, the nation’s only retailer of lost luggage, recently released the annual report, which gives a glimpse into the most curious, costly and common items discovered in America’s unclaimed luggage throughout 2024.
The report discloses some of the most fascinating and unexpected finds, like a freeze-dried chicken foot. It also tells us as the most valuable, like a $10,000 suitcase, and most frequent, which goes to show you can never pack enough underwear.

“Since 1970, we’ve unpacked more than just belongings—we’ve discovered the unique stories behind travelers’ journeys,” said CEO & President Bryan Owens in a press release. “Each narrative sparks curiosity, evokes laughter and invites conversation. From the most valuable to the trendy, the ‘Found Report’ gives readers a first-class seat to the most compelling tales uncovered from the previous year.”

#10) Full sheet of uncut $2 bills
“An interesting thing about Unclaimed Baggage is that there’s something for everyone. For example, the sheet of uncut $2 bills? That was the favorite find from someone in our accounting team – ha!” said Unclaimed Baggage’s Senior Manager of PR & Communications Sonni Hood.

#9) Glass eye
This glass eye is not available for purchase. Instead, the eye, as well as any other prosthetics and medical devices found in luggage at the facility, was donated to medical professionals to help people in need through Unclaimed Baggage’s charitable foundation Reclaimed for Good.

#8) Teeth bedazzling kit
Tooth gems have become a trendy accessory due to social media influence and an increase of influencers and celebrities showing off their bling. That said, this kit was not available for purchase.

#7) Toilet seat
This isn’t jut any toilet seat. It’s a “Washlet C5 Electronic Bidet” toilet seat, which Unclaimed Baggage valued at $408 and sold for $285.99. Average toilet seats make their way into luggage from time to time as well.

#6) Turkish ceremonial wedding headdress
Also known as gupbo, these traditional headpieces are worn by young Turkmen women and brides during ceremonies and festivals to show status. Turkmen silver medallions and dangles and cowrie shells are hand-stitched onto the caps to attract good fortune. It is not available for purchase.

#5) Squash blossom necklace
This item sold on Unclaimed Baggage’s website for $2,206.99. The authentic turquoise piece was one of many Western-inspired pieces unpacked last year.

#4) 3D-printed modular fiddle
Similar 3D-printed instruments are valued up to $1,500. Perhaps one day this fiddle will find its place in the “Instruments from Around the World” showcase in the Unclaimed Baggage Museum.

As of this publishing, these track pants, which are a unique blend of athletic wear and high fashion, are still available on Unclaimed Baggage’s website. The pants have a retail value of $3,790 and are currently being sold for $2,300.99.
