Here is where new homes are being built in the Huntsville area, and who is building them
With spring underway, home construction is starting to heat up in the Huntsville area.
Home construction accounted for $54.4 million in new construction in Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties since March 15, according to permits pulled by Southern Exposure Information. New construction totals $92.4 million overall.
Davidson Homes is the area’s top home builder. It’s been issued 42 permits totaling $9.1 million since mid-March. Woodland Homes was issued seven permits totaling more than $4 million. Lennar Homes was issued 17 permits totaling $3 million.
Stone Martin Builders has been issued seven permits topping $2.2 million. DR Horton was issued 12 permits topping $1.6 million and Rausch Coleman Homes was issued 15 permits totaling $1.5 million.
Davidson Homes is building homes in the Meadows subdivision in Athens valued between $160,000 and $250,000. Homes on Lisa Lane in southeast Decatur were valued around $300,000. Blue Water Way, Crawfish Drive, Bream Avenue, Benjamin Bloom and Pisgah Drive were valued under $50,000.
It is building a $284,000 home on Fall Meadow Drive in Huntsville, a $400,000 home on Cunningham Street and a $425,000 home Ginsburg Road, in Madison. It is building homes in Toney, Meridianville, Hazel Green and New Market valued between $200,000 and $350,000.
Woodland Homes is building a $550,000 home on Arbor Trail in Madison. It is building a $736,000 home on Idle Creek Drive and a $729,000 home on Trackside Trail in Huntsville; a $761,000 home on Maple Branch Court and a $707,000 home in Meridianville.
Lennar Homes is building homes valued at less than $200,000 in Whisper Woods and Lucas Ferry Farms in Athens; and Hampton Mill Drive in Huntsville. It is building homes valued between $225,000 and $300,000 on Ashby Pond Drive in Harvest and Exeter Street in Huntsville.
The Madison County Commission also approved for Lennar Homes to build seven homes in the second phase of Creekside at Clift Farm.
Commercial projects

Eleven commercial projects topped $1 million since March 15.
The top projects include:
- CB & I Storage Tank Solutions is constructing a $6.2 million building at 1391 Walker Lane in New Market. The company is a designer and builder of storage facilities, tanks and terminals.
- Rader McCary Inc. of Birmingham is building a $5.6 million structure at 400 Slaughter Rd. in northwest Huntsville, The permit was issued to real estate developer Andy Sink.
- Target is doing a $3.8 million remodel of its store at The Crossings at 1235 Point Mallard Pkwy in southeast Decatur. Crossland Construction Company of Columbus, Kansas, is the contractor.
- Decatur issued a permit for a $3 million building at the Morgan County Farmers Market at 211 First Ave. SE. The farmers’ market has been undergoing renovations. Building Construction Associates Inc. is the contractor.
- Summit Structures of Huntsville is building three $2.3 million buildings at 336 Green Cove Rd. SE in Huntsville. The permits were issued to Terry Green.
- FMGI Inc. of Woodstock, Georgia, is doing a $2 million, 41,369-square foot remodel of the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 7140 Wall Triana Highway in Madison.
Since March 15, Madison County has issued 121 permits totaling $37.6 million. Huntsville has issued 85 permits, topping $25.4 million. Decatur has issued 31 permits totaling $11.1 million.
Madison has issued 26 permits totaling $10 million, Athens 43 permits totaling $9.9 million and Priceville one permit for a $250,000 building.
