Pisgah football coach Luke Pruitt set to take over Class 5A program

After eight seasons as the head coach at Pisgah, coach Luke Pruitt will be taking over a new program in north Alabama.

Pruitt will serve as the next head football coach at Boaz High School, it was announced Thursday morning.

He will take over for Jeremy Sullivan, who accepted the job at Jacksonville High School.

Pruitt compiled a 52-32 overall record during his time at Pisgah, which includes a 30-14 mark in region play.

His final three seasons saw the Eagles go 34-7 overall and go 8-3 in the playoffs, advancing to the Class 2A semifinals in 2023 and 2024.

The Eagles finished 11-2 this offseason, ranked as the No. 1 team in Class 2A for a majority of the season and advancing to the third round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Before taking over at Pisgah, he was a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State University and served as the defensive coordinator at Albertville before taking over the program at Pisgah.

Adam Gilbert will take over for Pruitt as the program’s head football coach after five seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Eagles; Pisgah’s offense averaged 49.2 points per game last season.

Gilbert also had stints as head coach at Arab (2014-2017) and North Sand Mountain (2010-2013), where he had a combined five playoff appearances and went 46-40.

He led North Sand Mountain to three straight playoff appearances and in 2013, led the program to its first playoff win since 1998 with a 17-7 win over Reeltown.
