Where Alabama basketball finished in final AP top 25 poll of 2024-25 season
Alabama basketball finished sixth in the final Associated Press media top 25 poll of the year. The final poll came the morning after Florida dispatched Houston in the Final Four national championship game to cap off the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
The Crimson Tide finished one spot behind Tennessee, and two behind Auburn, which made the Final Four. Duke ran third, while Houston was second after the Monday loss.
Michigan State and Texas Tech sat in seventh and eighth respectively, just behind Alabama. Maryland and Michigan rounded out the top 10.
Other SEC teams in the top 25 included Kentucky at No. 11, Ole Miss at No. 18, Texas A&M at No. 19 and Arkansas at No. 20. The SEC earned 14 bids to the NCAA Tournament this season, and broke the 2016 ACC’s record for most teams from a single conference in the Sweet 16.
Alabama entered the 2024-25 season with lofty expectations, after improving its roster following its first ever Final Four appearance in 2024. The Tide played well throughout the season, but fell just short of a second Final Four bid.
UA cruised through the first two rounds of the tournament in Cleveland, beating Robert Morris and Saint Mary’s. It then went to Newark for the Sweet 16 against BYU, where Mark Sears led a masterclass from beyond the arc, and Alabama broke the all-time tournament record for three-pointers in a single game.
However, the Elite Eight was where the run ended. Duke outclassed the Crimson Tide to earn a spot in the Final Four.
UA ended the year 28-9, 13-5 in SEC play.
