Heavy-duty truck dealer building new $6.8 million corporate headquarters in Birmingham

Heavy and medium-duty truck dealer Truckworx plans to build a $6.8 million corporate headquarters in Birmingham.

The Birmingham Business Alliance Tuesday announced that 52 “high-paying jobs” will come from the project, which has a total economic impact estimated at nearly $3.5 million over 20 years.

The new headquarters will be located at 2224 24th Ave. N., directly across from the company’s flagship dealership on Finley Boulevard, with room for growth. It will also house accounting, IT, HR, support services and executive leadership.

Dunn Construction will lead the buildout as general contractor.

The company, founded in 1978, operates 23 locations across Alabama, Mississippi and the Florida panhandle, and considered multiple potential locations for these headquarters before opting to stay in Birmingham.

Truckworx CEO & President Will Bruser said the company is building the new headquarters to deal with growth and to reunite its corporate team, which had been located in a Homewood office.

“When we moved into our new building in 2004, our plan was to house our largest dealership and corporate office there,” said Truckworx CEO & President Will Bruser. “We are excited for our entire team to be back together in the city of Birmingham in a new corporate headquarters right across the street from our dealership.”

The Truckworx project was supported by the BBA, the City of Birmingham and Jefferson County. Total incentives are $441,799, including sales tax abatements of $101,800 and property tax abatements of $238,821.

“This is precisely the type of project that inspires community enthusiasm and reflects the growth that we strive to encourage,” Jefferson County Commissioner Mike Bolin said.
