What Chad Baker-Mazara said about a possible return to Auburn next season
Auburn men’s basketball’s historic 2024-2025 season came to an end Saturday night, losing to Florida in the Final Four.
With the season officially in the books, the focus now shifts toward next year, and Auburn has a rebuild on its hands. Starters such as Johni Broome, Dylan Cardwell, Denver Jones and Miles Kelly are out of eligibility, but Chad Baker-Mazara is the wildcard in Auburn’s starting lineup.
He has an extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA’s blanket waiver for senior athletes who spent a season in junior college. Jones also spent a year at the JUCO level, but his won’t count for the waiver since it was during the 2020-2021 season impacted by COVID-19.
Baker-Mazara was asked in the locker room following Auburn’s loss to Florida about a potential return, but he declined to answer the question.
“Man, come on. The game just ended,” Baker-Mazara said.
Baker-Mazara averaged 12.3 points per game for Auburn this season and scored 18 in the Tigers’ Final Four loss to Florida.
Auburn has already added multiple transfers at Baker-Mazara’s position, with Abdul Bashir from the JUCO ranks and Keyshawn Hall from UCF.
