Popular chocolate bars recalled because they might contain small stones

Tony’s Chocolonely Inc. is recalling two types of chocolate bars because the products may contain small stones.

The New York-based chocolatier has voluntarily recalled seven lots of 6.35 oz chocolate bars. The affected products are the Tony’s brand Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar and the Everything Bar.

The products were distributed nationwide and sold in the U.S. via retail stores and www.tonyschocolonely.com, the company said via a press release.

Tony’s started distributing the chocolate on Feb. 7 and stopped distribution on March 24.

The company initiated the recall after 12 consumers reported finding small stones in the chocolates. In the press release, Tony’s said the stones weren’t filtered during a third-party’s almond harvesting and processing. No injuries have been reported.

Tony’s is urging customers who have purchased the affected chocolate not to eat the product and return it to the retailer for a refund or replacement. The lot codes of the recalled chocolates are available here.
