Landmark Tuscaloosa restaurant available for sale or lease
The property that was once home to Tuscaloosa’s Cypress Inn on Rice Mine Road North is now available for sale or lease.
According to The Tuscaloosa News, real estate firm CBRE has listed the property as 16,645 square feet of interior space, with 1,000 linear feet of waterfront.
The main two-story structure can serve as a restaurant, with 4,000 square feet of event space, or enough to accommodate up to 494 guests.
Shannon Tyndall and Jake Parker with CBRE Retail Services in Birmingham are marketing the property.
The area around the Cypress Inn has seen the announcement of a Sports Illustrated resort, which calls for a nine-story, 137-room hotel with 150 condos and 250 timeshare units.
Located on the edge of the Black Warrior River, the Cypress Inn opened in 1984 and served up Alabama farm-raised catfish, smoked chicken and white barbecue sauce and seafood gumbo, before closing.
There was some talk of reopening the restaurant in 2023, but nothing came of the plan.
