A Florence woman accused of beating a four-year-old child and forcing her to eat makeup has pleaded guilty to child abuse.

Rebecca Lynn Barnett, 24, was arrested Feb. 11, 2022 and charged with one count of child abuse and one count of third-degree domestic violence, a misdemeanor.

According to court documents, Barnett was accused of threatening to kill her child, “cussed” her and made her eat makeup.

Barnett received a 24-month split sentence after pleading guilty to child abuse. If she successfully finishes a pretrial diversion program, her case will be dismissed.

Otherwise, she faces 10 years in prison if she breaks any of the plea stipulations, according to court documents.
