Popular hamburger chain opens latest Alabama location as company continues expansion

Whataburger has opened its 41st Alabama restaurant this week in Gadsden.

The restaurant at 300 N. Hood Ave., which employs 70, began serving on Monday for 24-hour drive-thru service only.

The dining-room will be opened in coming weeks. The location will also roll out additional service options including ordering via the Whataburger App and Whataburger.com for pickup and delivery.

This is the franchisee MWB Restaurants’ 13th Whataburger restaurant.

“We hope the people of Gadsden will flock to this new Whataburger to enjoy the bold, fresh flavors we’re known for and visit frequently to make the restaurant their own,” Operating Partner Natisha Hoyrd said. “My team and I are excited to serve everyone at 300 N. Hood Ave., and we look forward to seeing them.”

The Texas-based burger chain has aggressively expanded in Alabama over the last few years, opening in Attalla, Jacksonville, Huntsville, Cullman, Hazel Green, Scottsboro, Albertville and Athens.

Last year the company reported revenue of more than $4 billion across 16 states and more than 1,090 restaurants.
