North Alabama basketball star, Huntsville native enters NCAA transfer portal
A mainstay of North Alabama’s men’s basketball program will be entering the transfer portal after a historic career.
UNA star Jacari Lane has entered the NCAA transfer portal after three seasons in Florence, a source confirmed to AL.com.
The Huntsville native notified the staff at North Alabama on Wednesday night.
A back-to-back first team All-ASUN Conference selection, Lane averaged 17.3 points, 4 assists and 3.2 rebounds a game for the Lions as a junior.
He set the Division I school records in categories that include overall scoring, scoring average and 3-point percentage.
During his three seasons in Florence, Lane piled up 1,484 points to become the program’s leading scorer at the Division I level; he ranks fourth on the all-time scoring list behind three program hall of famers.
Before his time in Florence, Lane helped lead nearby Lee High School to back-to-back Class 5A state basketball championships.
He was a first team all-state pick and was named AL.com’s Tennessee Valley Player of the Year as a senior.
