The Florence Police Department said on Facebook it is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Southern Oaks Apartments.

No further information was provided by the department but they did advise people to avoid the area if possible.

The department asked that anyone with knowledge of the incident contact Detective Price at 256-760-6500.
