You can add emergency contact information on your Alabama driver’s license: Here’s how

Having contact information on your Alabama drivers license could make it easier for first responders to get in touch with friends or family in the event of an emergency. The process to add the info is simple.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the department began collecting contact information in 2019. The information includes contact person’s name, phone number and address.

To add your information, go to ALEA’s website to the emergency contact tab. There you can add information on your driver’s license and then go to another page to add resources for your emergency contact.

The license update is free. People who update their information won’t receive a new physical license but the information will be available digitally to dispatchers and first responders.
