AT&T does away with key discount: How much more will you pay?

AT&T customers who receive discounts based on how they pay their bills will soon be hit with higher charges.

Starting April 24, AT&T will cut discounts for autopay and paperless billing discounts, The Verge reported. Currently, customers using a debit card to pay their monthly bill receive a $10 discount. That will be cut to $5 a month. Payments linked to a credit card receive a $5 discount but that will be eliminated unless the customer is using an AT&T Plus Card from Citi. AT&T will continue to offer a $10 discount for customers that use their bank accounts for autopay, The Verge reported.

AT&T spokesperson Kyle Loomis told The Verge the change better aligns the telecommunication company with “others in the industry.”

The change comes after price increases put in place last year for wireless customers. In 2024, wireless customers with only one line saw their monthly cost increase by $10 while those with multiple lines saw a $20 price hike. In November, AT&T also raised its monthly price for fiber and internet by $5, The Street reported.
