Guy Fieri bringing high-profile Alabama chef back to ‘Guy’s Grocery Games’

If you like the idea of seeing a well-known Alabama chef get caught up in “an epic tag-team battle” that may involve a round or two of charades, you’ll want to tune in to Food Network on Wednesday evening.

In the newest episode of “Guy’s Grocery Games,” Lower Alabama restaurateur “Panini Pete” Blohme, a frequent collaborator with host Guy Fieri, will join up with a couple of buddies to face off against a team of “Grocery Games” alumni.

According to Food Network, the episode is titled “Guy’s Favorites.” In it, “Three of Guy Fieri’s favorite DDD [“Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives”] chefs and three of the hottest GGG winners compete tag-team style in 10-minute shifts to create a winner’s pork dinner. The first shift chef shops for a favorite snack food and piece of equipment selected by a roll of the culinary dice. After each shift, the chefs are given a shot at non-verbal communication by acting out charades or holding up random food props.”

Team DDD is Blohme, Jeffrey “Stretch” Rumaner and Arizona chef John Conley. All have previously appeared on Fieri’s shows, and all are members of the Messlords, a group of chefs who support U.S. military troops by activities such as cooking at overseas bases.

Mobile-area fans may remember Rumaner joining in as Fieri brought “DDD” to a series of Mobile-area restaurants in 2023, a tour facilitated by Blohme. Rumaner was featured in episodes on Dauphin Street cantina Roosters and Daphne’s Southwood Kitchen.

According Food Network the stakes are high: “Ultimately, the team that creates the best and most accurate pork plate will go on a relay shopping spree worth up to $15,000!”

“I can’t wait for everybody to see this one,” Blohme said via text. “You don’t wanna miss it, from the cooking to the penalty box, nonstop fun! Just so grateful the platform this show has given me. Money I’ve won in the past has funded the beginnings of the PR Foundation and every time we win, we give it to local causes!” (The PR Foundation, founded by Blohme and Robert Kabakoff, is a nonprofit organization supporting military veterans, no-kill animal shelters and people with special needs.)

The episode airs at 8 p.m. Central time on Wednesday, March 26. According to Food Network listings, it will repeat at 11 p.m. Wednesday and at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 30.
