Father of 7-month-old shot to death at south Alabama beauty supply shop
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has released details of a Friday shooting that left one man charged with murder and a mother seeking help raising money for her son’s funeral.
According to the MCSO, the incident took place Friday evening in Semmes, where Semmes police and sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting shortly after 6:30 p.m.
The scene was Sally’s Beauty Supply at 7885 Moffett Road.
The victim, Zycorreyyan Harris [who was 20] was found in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest,” reported the sheriff’s office.
“The suspect, Daniel Holloway Jr. … remained on scene along with his girlfriend who witnessed the incident, Both were detained by Semmes Police Department Officers.”
“Witness interviews revealed that Holloway and Harris have had an ongoing dispute over a female that both men knew,” said the report.
“On the night of the murder, both men were heard arguing at the female’s work place. Holloway pulled a black 9mm block handgun and pointed it at Harris and pulled the trigger hitting him once in the chest. Harris fled to parking lot and then collapsed. Holloway remained on the scene. MCSO took Holloway into custody and charged him with murder.”
Metro Jail records indicated that Daniel Deshawn Holloway Jr., 21, was scheduled for a bond hearing on Monday.
An online fundraiser titled “ZyCorreyan Harris’s home going assistance” has been launched by Harris’ mother, Porshina Harris, at Gofundme.com.
As of Monday afternoon it had raised $1,600 toward a goal of $10,000.
In a message explaining the drive Porshina Harris says that her son “was murdered on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, as he was attempting to see his 7-month-old child.”
