How many teams from state of Alabama will make 2025 NCAA men’s basketball tournament?

The state of Alabama could have a record five teams in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament this year.

UAB faces Memphis at 2:15 p.m. Sunday for the American Athletic Conference championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. Should the Blazers win, they would become the fifth team from the state of Alabama in the Field of 68.

Alabama State and Troy already have automatic bids based winning their conference tournament. Troy beat Arkansas State to win the Sun Belt tournament last Monday, while Alabama State knocked off Jackson State to win the SWAC tournament title on Saturday.

Alabama and Auburn will both make the tournament as at-large teams despite losing in the SEC semifinals on Saturday. The Tigers are likely to be the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, while the Crimson Tide should fall somewhere on the 2- or perhaps 3-line.

The NCAA tournament field will be revealed in the 2025 Selection Show at 5 p.m. Sunday on CBS. The UAB-Memphis game airs on ESPN. Here are the other years the state of Alabama has had at least three teams in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament:
