An investigation is underway after a man was shot Wednesday afternoon in Forestdale.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. in the 1400 block of Pratt Highway.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene after receiving a report of a person down. The victim was found wounded by gunfire.

Sheriff’s spokesman Henry Irby said Forestdale Fire and Rescue rushed the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
