Morgan County authorities have charged a Falkville man with capital murder following a Sunday night shooting.

Joshua Lamar Knighten, 35, was arrested at the scene of a fatal shooting in the 50 block of Goodwin Road.

He is being held in the Morgan County Jail without bond.

Deputies were called to the scene and found one person dead, and one suffering from a gunshot wound, the sheriff’s office said.

Another person with a gunshot wound left before deputies arrived and went to the Falkville Town Hall.

Both of the surviving victims were airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.

Knighten was one of two people detained at the scene. The other was later released.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
