Two people died as the result of a two vehicle crash in Mobile County on Sunday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Derrick Lyvell Skanes, 37, and Paula Michelle Jordan, 37, were identified as the two victims fatally injured during the accident.

According to ALEA, Skanes was driving a 2009 Ford Mustang on W Coy Smith Highway, located four miles west of Mount Vernon, at 4:10 a.m. when his car collided with a 2021 GMA Sierra driven by Cheyenne Deshay Taylor, 29.

Skanes and Jordan, a passenger in the Mustang, were pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor survived and was transported to USA Hospital in Mobile to be treated for injuries.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash, according to the agency.
