Alabama corrections officer faces federal charges for bribery scheme
A federal grand jury this week indicted former corrections officer Alex Christian Andrews on charges of federal program bribery and conspiracy to commit the bribery at Limestone Correctional Facility, according to court documents.
The indictment alleges that Andrews paid another corrections officer to allow contraband inside the facility from July until November 2022 using burner phones and false usernames on CashApp.
It goes on to say that an inmate also arranged for another corrections officer to meet with someone in Huntsville and Birmingham to pick up packaged contraband for delivery inside the prison “several times.”
Andrews’ arraignment hearing is scheduled for Mar. 20 at the Federal Courthouse in Huntsville.
Alabama Department of Corrections employees Shamarion Dozier, John Ketterman, and Andrew Roy have also been named in connection with the scheme and are facing charges.
