Let the debate begin: Is Hoover the greatest high school basketball team in state history?

Past winners include former Buckhorn guard Caleb Holt (2024), Baker’s Labaron Philon (2023) and McGill-Toolen’s Barry Dunning (2022).

Brown, a Tennessee signee, capped off his tenure at Hoover with a pair of double-doubles in the AHSAA State Finals against Central-Phenix City and Florence.

He totaled 27 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks in the semifinals against Central before racking up 14 points, 16 assists, 5 blocks and an assists in the title game against Florence.

He was named Class 7A state tournament MVP for the performance.

A 4-star prospect, he signed with Tennessee over offers that included Mississippi State, Alabama, LSU and Virginia.

Brown was a first-team all-state selection last year and named Class 7A Player of the Year last season by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
