After one season away, Miles Holcomb is back at a program he led to the playoffs.

Holcomb, who spent last season at Class 7A Tuscaloosa County, has been rehired as the head football coach at Southside-Gadsden, the school announced on Tuesday.

He replaces Ben Stewart, who led Southside to the Class 6A playoffs after a five-game winning streak to close out Region 8 play.

Holcomb spent one season at Tuscaloosa County, which went 1-9, and stepped down to take a job back at Southside, which is closer to his hometown of Crossville.

His last season at Southside before taking over in Northport saw the Panthers go 8-3 and claim a share of the Class 5A, Region 6 championship, finishing at No. 7 in Class 5A in the ASWA rankings.

From 2021-2023, he compiled an 18-15 record in three seasons at Southside.

He was the head coach at Class 5A Crossville in 2016 and 2017, leading the now-defunct program to its first playoff appearance since 2004 in what would be his final season.
