Popular burger chain weighs closing dozens of restaurants

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers is weighing the closure of dozens of restaurants.

On an earnings call, the company’s CEO G.J. Hart said that the burger chain is evaluating about 70 underperforming locations, according to Nations Restaurant News.

“We believe the expected closure of a majority of these restaurants will allow the strength of our remaining portfolio to become clear over time and free cash that we expect to reinvest in the business,” Hart said.

Still, Hart is hoping for a brighter future. Hart emphasizes that many Red Robin locations are still going strong and that closing restaurants that aren’t as successful will help fortify the company overall, reports Yahoo Finance.
