23-year-old woman charged in Birmingham domestic shooting that killed man
A 23-year-old woman has been charged in a January shooting in Birmingham that left one man dead a woman wounded.
Birmingham police Thursday said Tamiya Krishaun Thomas is charged with capital murder in the killing of 40-year-old James Leon Craig.
The charge is capital because the fatal bullets were fired from outside into a home, Jefferson County Jail records show.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said Thomas was taken into custody about 11:15 a.m. by The Special Enforcement Division’s Crime Reduction Team along with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. The arrest was made in the 1400 Block of 32nd Street Ensley.
Thomas is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail.
The shooting happened at 2:31 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at a house in the 10 block of 17th Court South. That location is in south Titusville.
Birmingham police arrived to find both victims wounded.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service took the injured to UAB Hospital, where Craig was officially pronounced dead later that night.

His obituary said he was a father, son, brother and friend.
The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe a domestic argument led to the double shooting.
Police at the time said there were multiple people at the home, and they all remained on the scene and were interviewed by detectives.
