Opelika head-on crash kills 1 child, another flown to Birmingham hospital
One juvenile was killed and another airlifted to a Birmingham hospital following a head-on crash in Opelika.
The wreck happened at 5:23 p.m. Monday in the 3500 block of Marvyn Parkway.
Opelika police officials said two vehicles – a Kia K5 and a GMC Acadia – collided.
There were two adults and two juveniles in the Kia. One of the children was pronounced dead on the scene while the other was flown to Children’s of Alabama.
The adult driver and an adult passenger were taken by ambulance to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Georgia.
The driver of the GMC Acadia, as well as a juvenile passenger, were taken by person vehicle for medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Opelika Police Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.
The investigation is ongoing by the department’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit.
