Montgomery will keep Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament through 2030

The Sun Belt Conference baseball tournament will remain at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery through 2030, it was announced Monday.

The Sun Belt and the city of Montgomery were entering the final year of a 5-year deal originally signed in 2019. The 2025 Sun Belt tournament takes place May 20-25 at Riverwalk, the home of the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits.

“The Sun Belt Conference is excited to extend our partnership with the Central Alabama Sports Commission and the City of Montgomery,” Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill said. “Our student-athletes, coaches and fans have established traditions around starting the Road to Omaha in Montgomery — a community that has embraced the rising brand of Sun Belt baseball.”

Prior to 2021, the Sun Belt tournament took place at campus sites on a rotating basis. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID, so the original 5-year deal — which initially covered the 2020-24 tournaments — was extended an additional year.

“Montgomery is proud to continue our partnership with the Sun Belt Conference, keeping the Sun Belt Baseball Tournament right here in the Capital of Dreams through 2030,” Montgomery mayor Steven Reed said. “This extension reaffirms our city’s reputation as a premier destination for championship events, bringing economic impact, tourism, and excitement to our community. We look forward to welcoming teams, fans, and visitors for years to come.”

Southern Miss has won the last two tournaments.
