Seven of the 16 players with Alabama football roots selected for the Pro Bowl Games were first-time selections. The new all-stars push to 137 the number of players from Alabama high schools and colleges who have been picked for the Pro Bowl Games, Pro Bowl, AFL All-Star Game or Pro All-Star Game.

The new all-stars are:

· New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama)

For the previous 71 seasons, the selections would have gone on and played in the Pro Bowl. But this season, the NFL has eliminated the all-star game and replaced it with a skills competition and flag-football games.

The AFC has a 9-3 lead in the Pro Bowl Games after the events started on Thursday night. The Pro Bowl Games competition concludes on Sunday and will be televised by ESPN from 2 to 5 p.m. CST from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Dickerson and Hurts wouldn’t have played anyway because the Eagles are preparing to face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
