Birmingham’s Pizza Grace changes hours after James Beard nomination
Just days after being named a semifinalist in the 2023 James Beard Awards, Birmingham restaurant Pizza Grace announced it is changing its operating hours to help with employee “quality of life.”
In an Instagram post announcing the change, the restaurant said that “things have been pretty amazing” since the James Beard Foundation announced it was a semifinalist in the best new restaurant category.
“In an effort to maximize our time and keep our staff working reasonable hours (we are committed to quality of life) we have made some changes to our hours,” the post says.
Effective today, the restaurant’s hours are:
- Sunday and Monday: Closed
- Tuesday-Friday: Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 5-9 p.m. or until sold out
- Saturday noon to 8 p.m. or until sold out
Other 2023 James Beard semifinalists from Alabama are:
- Bottega, Birmingham, for outstanding hospitality.
- Timothy Hontzas, Johnny’s Restaurant, Homewood, for best chef in the South.
The overall award winners will be announced at the 2023 James Beard Foundation Awards ceremony on June 5 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
