Residents of 2 more Alabama counties eligible for FEMA aid for deadly Jan. 12 storms
Following the severe storms and tornadoes that killed seven people in Alabama Jan. 12, Mobile and Morgan counties have been added to the list of those eligible for FEMA assistance.
Individuals and households in these two counties can now apply for FEMA Individual Assistance, which may include temporary housing assistance, basic home repairs and other uninsured disaster-related needs.
Residents of Autauga, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Sumter and Tallapoosa counties, are already eligible for assistance.
Residents can apply for disaster assistance at disasterassistance.gov, by using the FEMA mobile app or by calling 800-621-3362. The helpline is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. CST and is available in most languages.
Those who use a relay service such as video relay service, captioned telephone service or others can give FEMA the number for that service.
