Despite snowstorm, Huntsville airport posts 13% rise in January passengers
Huntsville International Airport is on the way to another record year for passenger traffic.
Airport CEO Butch Roberts told directors Tuesday that with seven months of the fiscal year in the books, passenger numbers were trending 5.1% above projections. In January, he said, 117,085 people enplaned or deplaned at HSV in January, a 13.7% year-over-year increase.
That’s despite a winter storm that dumped several inches of snow and ice across north Alabama in early January. The airport remained open despite widespread flight interruptions across the southeast – at a cost of about $100,000 in materials and labor over two days, Roberts said.
