Man fleeing police strikes utility pole, killed in fiery crash, Alabama troopers say
A Eufaula man was killed in a fiery crash while fleeing from law enforcement officers, authorities said.
The crash happened at 4:29 a.m. Friday on U.S. 431 in Eufaula in Barbour County.
ALEA Lt. Jeremy Burkett said 44-year-old Lamar T. Jenkins was attempting to elude Eufaula police officers and Barbour County sheriff’s deputies.
Additional details were not released.
During the pursuit, Jenkins’ Ford Fusion left the road, hit a utility pole and burst into flames.
Jenkins was pronounced dead on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
