Alabama school systems announce delays for Thursday, Feb. 13 as state hit with severe weather

As parts of Alabama began to experience heavy rain with threats of tornadoes Wednesday night, some school systems announced changes to their operations for Thursday.

The southern half of the state was forecast to bear the brunt of the severe weather, including tornado warnings in southwest Alabama.

The range of severe weather included flash floods and tornado watches for parts of south and west Alabama.

Severe weather is a possibility from Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

These school systems and districts have announced delays, closings or switches to virtual learning amid the weather threats:

Arab City Schools: Two-hour delay Thursday

Jackson County Schools: Two-hour delay Thursday
