A Mobile County school system bus overturned Wednesday resulting in several students being injured.

The bus overturned on Mason Ferry Road in Wilmer.

In a statement regarding the accident, the Mobile County Public School System said 14 students were on the bus and 3 sustained injuries.

“We had a bus accident this afternoon which involved 14 students with currently 3 of the students being transported for injuries,” the statement read. “MCPSS officials and law enforcement officials are currently on the scene to assist with ensuring everyone’s safety and to investigate the accident. Please keep our students in your thoughts and prayers as they recover from the injuries sustained.”

The extent of the students’ injuries and what caused the accident are unclear.

The Alabama State Troopers and other local law enforcement are on the scene investigating the accident.
