30-year-old inmate fatally stabbed inside Alabama prison
An Alabama prison inmate was fatally stabbed inside William Donaldson Correctional Facility in west Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the inmate as Cordel Ladon Battle. He was 30.
Battle was serving a life sentence for a 2013 first-degree robbery conviction out of Madison County.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Battle sustained sharp force injuries during an assault tat happened at 6:41 p.m.
The inmate was pronounced dead at the prison at 7:28 p.m.
The Alabama Department of Corrections – Law Enforcement Services is investigating. Prison officials have not yet released additional information surrounding the homicide.
