ALDI converts Alabama Winn-Dixie into its new grocery store location
Discount grocery chain ALDI is preparing to open its third store in the Tuscaloosa area later this month.
The second Northport location will open on Feb. 20, 9 a.m. at 10 McFarland Boulevard, according to a recent release.
“The new Northport ALDI store will offer fresh, organic produce delivered daily, an unmatched selection of cheese and wine, and food for every taste and lifestyle (gluten-free, plant-based, whatever you need) in addition to convenient access to curbside pickup and grocery delivery options,” the release reads.
The first 100 customers will receive a gift bag filled with a sampling of ALDI Exclusive products and a gift card as part of the ALDI Golden Ticket giveaway program, according to the company.
Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a $500 ALDI gift card through opening weekend.
Like the other two locations in Northport and Tuscaloosa, the store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the release.
Karla Waddleton, the Mount Juliet vice president for Aldi, previously said the opening of new Alabama locations will continue to bring the grocery chain closer to the goal of 800 stores nationwide by the end of 2028.
The upcoming Aldi in Northport will be the fourth converted Winn-Dixie location to open this year.
The chain opened a store in the former Winn Dixie location at 4701 Pinson Boulevard on Jan. 30, in the former Winn Dixie at 2910 Morgan Road on Bessemer on January 23, and in the former Auburn Winn Dixie at 1617 South College Street on Jan. 9.
These are four of a half-dozen stores around Alabama the discount grocery giant has converted from former Winn Dixie locations.
Last year, Aldi acquired Winn-Dixie and Harveys from Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers. The deal included grocery store locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
