Bracketology: Where experts project Alabama will land in NCAA Tournament
Alabama basketball is cruising into the home stretch of the 2024-25 regular season. The Crimson Tide moved up to No. 2 in the nation in the Associated Press media poll, and No. 1 in the coaches poll following a win over Arkansas on Saturday.
Up next, a Tuesday road trip to Texas, before the Iron Bowl of Basketball against Auburn Saturday in Coleman Coliseum. Nothing is settled yet, but as the postseason approaches, bracketologists are high on Alabama.
Ahead of the week’s two SEC matchups, here’s a look at the latest NCAA Tournament projections for Alabama.
ESPN– No. 1 seed
Joe Lunardi updated his latest prediction on Tuesday, and sent the Crimson Tide to Lexington. He projected Alabama as the No. 1 seed in the midwest region, facing Southern in the first round.
The Tide would face either Saint Mary’s or UConn in the second round, should Lunardi’s prediction prove true.
Lunardi’s prediction would have Alabama in Indianapolis for the second weekend should the Tide advance. He lists Auburn as the No. 1 seed in the south region, also playing in Lexington, with the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight in Atlanta.
CBS– No. 1 seed
Jerry Palm concurred with Lunardi, placing Alabama as the top seed in the midwest, in Lexington. He also projected the Crimson Tide will face Southern in the first round.
CBS differed from ESPN in the second round. Palm’s prediction would have Alabama playing either UConn or Utah State in its second game.
Palm also placed Auburn as the top seed in the south, facing either Little Rock or American.
NCAA.com– No. 1 seed
Andy Katz projected the Crimson Tide as a No. 1 seed, but in the west region. He had Alabama facing Morehead State in the first round, without projecting a host site for the game.
The NCAA projection has UA as the No. 4 overall seed. Katz predicted Auburn as the SEC tournament’s winner and thus the conference’s automatic qualifier.
