Authorities in standoff with Alabama suspect who allegedly took girlfriend hostage, fired at officers
Authorities are engaged in a standoff Monday night with a suspect they say took his girlfriend hostage and fired shots at officers in southwest Alabama.
The incident began around 5:45 p.m. Monday in Atmore, when police responded to a home by Carver Avenue and Brown Street, authorities told Fox 10.
The suspect exited the house when he fired several shots at an officer before returning to the home and barricading himself.
Authorities believe the man’s girlfriend is also inside.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT team is assisting Atmore police.
The standoff remained ongoing as of 10 p.m. Monday.
