Florence man charged with sexually abusing child under 12

A north Alabama man was arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child under 12 years old, police said Monday.

Florence police detectives were made aware of a sexual abuse case involving a child under 12 years old on Friday, said police spokesman Joshua Meza.

Detectives spoke to the victim and the suspect and developed probable cause for an arrest warrant for Kenneth Lewis, 35, of Florence, said Meza.

Lewis was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old.

According to a deposition filed in Lauderdale County Circuit Court, the Florence man told authorities he was drunk when he touched the victim under and over their clothes while.

He was released from the Lauderdale County jail after posting $30,000 bond.
