Former Disney Channel star ‘shot in the face’
Christy Carlson Romano took to social media to let fans know she was shot in the face during a birthday event for her husband on Friday.
Romano, the former Disney Channel star best known for starring in “Even Stevens” and voicing “Kim Possible,” posted a video on Instagram, detailing what happened.
“It was not fun,” the 40-year-old Romano, who was most recently a contestant on “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” said in the video.
Romano and her husband, 42, were celebrating his birthday by shooting clay pigeons in Austin Texas. She explained another party was with them and “unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face.”
“I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye,” she posted. “Unfortunately a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time. Doctors will continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment).”
Romano thanked first responders and doctors.
“I got to say, I got shot in the face, and lived to tell the tale,” said Romano, letting out a deep sigh. “Be grateful for every day.”
