Troy baseball was picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference in 2025, according to voting by league coaches.

The Trojans, who went 37-22 in 2024, received three first-place votes and 178 poll points, behind only preseason Sun Belt favorite Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles, who have won the last two the Sun Belt tournament championships, picked up four first-place votes and 179 points.

Louisiana got three first-place votes, while Coastal Carollina got the other two. The Ragin’ Cajuns were third in the voting with 174 points, followed by the Chanticleers (161), Georgia Southern (125), James Madison (106), Old Dominion (105), Texas State (102) and Appalachian State (94).

South Alabama (93) was picked 10th, with Georgia State (49), Marshall (46), Louisiana-Monroe (34) and Arkansas State (24) rounding out the field.

Surprisingly enough, Troy did not place any players on the preseason All-Sun Belt team. Trojans catcher Brooks Bryan is back after being first-team pick last season, when he set a school record with 86 RBIs.

Coastal Carolina catcher Caden Bodine is the preseason Player of the Year, while Louisiana’s Chase Morgan was chosen as the preseason Pitcher of the Year. Southern Miss had five players selected to the preseason All-Sun Belt team, including outfielder Davis Gillespie, a former Oak Mountain High School star.

Troy opens the 2025 season at home Feb. 14 vs. Bellarmine, while South Alabama opens on the same day vs. SIU-Edwardsville, also at home.
