Auburn’s Johni Broome named SEC, Naismith Trophy Player of the Week
For the second week in a row, Auburn All-American center Johni Broome has earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors.
Additionally, he was named the Naismith Trophy Player of the Week for his performances against LSU and Ole Miss.
Broome averaged 23 points, 14 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in Auburn’s two wins last week, scoring a double-double in both games. Against LSU, Broome finished with 26 points and 16 rebounds. He added 20 points and 12 rebounds against Ole Miss.
The week prior, Broome earned SEC Player of the Week honors after scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds against then No. 6 Tennessee.
It was Broome’s first game back from a sprained ankle that caused him to miss Auburn’s previous two games.
Broome and Auburn will next be in action Tuesday night for a home game against Oklahoma. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be streaming live on SEC Network.
