The Alabama High School Athletic Association soccer coaches released their preseason poll on Monday with five defending champions at the top of their classifications before Thursday’s season-opening day – with the St. Luke’s boys ranked No. 1 in their new class.

On the girls’ side, Class 7A Auburn, 6A Mountain Brook and 5A Springville won titles last year and are ranked atop their classes this season. In the boys’ polls, Class 7A Oak Mountain and 6A Homewood are ranked No. 1 this season after winning championships last year and St. Luke’s is No. 1 in 4A after winning the 1A/3A title in 2024. The Wildcats moved up due to the AHSAA competitive balance calculations.
