Birmingham Crisis Center employee among 4 arrested in child porn case

A Birmingham Crisis Center employee is under arrest and on administrative leave after he was charged in east Alabama on a child porn charge.

Dodd Waters, 55, is charged with one count of possession of child pornography. He is one of four people arrested last week in Etowah County by deputies and police officers who are part of Alabama’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The Crisis Center Board of Directors issued a statement to AL.com confirming Waters’ employment and said has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case.

Executive Director Meg McGlamery said Waters was a phone line specialist for the Crisis and Suicide Hotline for 10 years.

Charging documents against Waters state he was in possession of a video of two small children engaging in a sex act.

He was arrested Jan. 19 with bond set at $10,000. As part of his bond, he is prohibited from unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, as well as prohibited from having internet, a smart phone or other devises.

“I am shocked and saddened to learn of the arrest of a Crisis Center staff member,’’ McGlamery said.

“The Crisis Center is committed to supporting survivors of all forms of sexual violence and exploitation,’’ she said. “Any violation of this commitment will not be tolerated.”
