Isolated severe storms possible today in south Alabama: What you need to know

Part of south Alabama has a risk of seeing isolated severe storms today.

The strongest storms could have damaging winds, and a tornado is not out of the question.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center is maintaining a Level 1 out of 5 risk of severe weather for parts of south Alabama.

A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible.

Cities in the Level 1 risk area include Mobile, Dothan, Troy and Greenville.

Rain and thunderstorms will also be possible across the rest of the state today, but severe storms aren’t anticipated.

A thin line of storms was progressing across south Alabama on Friday morning, but no severe storms have been reported overnight and early this morning. Another larger area of rain and storms was affecting parts of north and central Alabama.

South Alabama storms could get stronger as temperatures rise this afternoon. Here are today’s forecast high temperatures:

In fact, next week could bring the first 80-degree temperatures of 2025 for parts of the state.

After today no severe weather is in the forecast through next week.
