Basketball roundup: Decatur Heritage improves to 16-11 in 2A

Decatur Heritage, last season’s Class 1A state runner-up, closed out its first regular season in Class 2A with a 67-61 win at home over Addison on Thursday. The Eagles improved to 16-11 and carry a No. 6 ranking in the Alabama Sports Writers Association final Top 10 into the postseason.

The Eagles led 30-26 at halftime and 43-39 headed into the final quarter. Decatur Heritage will meet Falkville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Area 13 tournament at Holly Pond.

Nash Thomas notched a double-double for the winners with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bo Mitchell scored 12 points. Jordan Davis and Brady Wilson added 11 points apiece, with Wilson grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. Bo Solley scored 9 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Brady Gilbreath led Addison with 16 points. Lane Tubb added 11 points.

On Monday, Decatur Heritage edged Athens Bible 68-66 on the road. Athens Bible made the game a “Pink Out” in honor of Decatur Heritage assistant coach Rick Davis’ wife, Sherryn, who has breast cancer. The Davises are also the grandparents of Kennedy Kyle, who plays on the girls’ varsity basketball team.

Athens Bible led 15-9 after one quarter, but the Eagles rallied to take a 31-27 edge into halftime. Decatur Heritage led 53-45 headed into the final period.

Wilson had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, with 6 assists, for the winners. Mason Baxley was the Eagles’ leading scorer with 16 points. He had 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Mitchell scored 14 points and Solley had 9 assists.

Walker Brand tossed in 27 points to lead Athens Bible. Brayden Suggs scored 17 in the loss and AJ Bradford scored 12.

BOYS

CLASS 7A

Huntsville 51, Sparkman 47: The third-ranked Crimson Panthers rallied late in fourth quarter to beat Area 7 rival Sparkman at home on Tuesday. Huntsville took its first lead at 45-44 with 2:09 to play in the game on a layup by Josh Bowman.

The Senators (19-10) led 15-5 after one quarter, 29-22 at the half and 40-32 headed into the final period. Huntsville improved to 20-8 and finished 6-0 in area play, believed to be the first perfect area finish in school history.

The Crimson Panthers’ pressure defense proved to be the difference in the fourth quarter. After Bowman’s layup, Huntsville got a stop and Eli Stapler nailed a 3-pointer to push the advantage to 48-44 with 1:31 left in the game. Stapler and Simon Walker hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to close out the game.

Sparkman will be the No. 3 seed in the area tournament at Huntsville, playing No. 2 Grissom at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Top-seeded Huntsville, winner of six of its past seven games, will play No. 4 Albertville at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bowman, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, came off the bench to register a double-double for the winners. Bowman had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. John David Gossett led Huntsville with 15 points. He also had 5 rebounds. Walker scored 9 points and Ja’Mari Arnold added 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks.

William Hawkins led Sparkman with 13 points. Cameron Jones scored 12 points for the Senators on four 3-pointers. Karmelo Montgomery added 11 in the loss.

Austin 50, Sparkman 46: The eighth-ranked Black Bears picked up the win on the road on Thursday to improve to 17-9.

Will Hawkins led Sparkman with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Cam Jones added 9 points and had 5 rebounds.

Chelsea 68, Calera 51: The Hornets earned a Senior Night win on Thursday rolling over Calera. Chelsea led 34-19 at the half.

Paul Lanzi led the winners with 24 points. Avery Futch scored 13 for Chelsea (16-12) and Christen Whetstone added 11.

Tierren Thomas led the Eagles with 14 points.

On Tuesday, Chelsea whipped Pelham 69-49 on the road, pulling away from a 30-24 halftime advantage.

Futch led the winners with 24 points – 16 coming in the first quarter. Lanzi scored 12 for Chelsea and Whetstone added 11.

Kamari Hollis led Pelham with 17 points. Dynarian Long scored 11 for the Panthers.

Dothan 79, Geneva 38: The No. 10 Wolves improved to 22-4 with the rout at home of Class 4A Geneva on Tuesday.

Troy signee Thomas Dowd, a 6-foot-7 senior, had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds for Dothan. Jayden Taylor and AJ Porter scored 10 points apiece. Taylor had 6 rebounds while Porter grabbed 4.

On Monday, the Wolves beat 5A Headland 61-22 on the road. Dowd had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Bryson Berry scored 11 points and had 6 assists.

Hoover 65, Homewood 40: The second-ranked Bucs whipped Class 6A No. 5 Homewood on the road on Monday with all 10 Hoover players getting into the scoring column. Hoover jumped to a 14-1 first-quarter lead and was up 33-17 at the half. The Bucs led 52-35 headed into the final period.

Jarrett Fairley led Hoover with 15 points. DeWayne Brown scored 14 and grabbed 8 rebounds. Jonathan Caicedo scored 9 points with 5 rebounds and Cam Torbor had 8 rebounds and 6 points. Salim London finished with 5 assists.

Hoover closes out the regular season on Friday at home vs. Spain Park.

Vestavia Hills 58, Huffman 50: The top-ranked Rebels slipped past Huffman on the road on Monday.

Jackson Weaver led Vestavia (22-4) with 27 points. Win Miller scored 16 in the win.

The Rebels won the area tie-breaker with Hoover and will host the Area 5 tournament as the No. 1 seed.

CLASS 6A

Mountain Brook 61, Hewitt-Trussville 34: The home-standing No. 2 Spartans whipped Class 7A Hewitt-Trussville on Tuesday to run their record to 20-6.

Carson Romero led the winners with 15 points. Ty Davis scored 12 points and dished out 6 assists. Julius Clark scored 9 points and had 5 rebounds for Mountain Brook and Clark Sanderson added 9 points.

The Spartans host Vestavia Hills on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Central-Tuscaloosa 63, Sulligent 53: The Falcons improved to 16-11 on the year with the home win over 2A Sulligent on Tuesday.

Javion Taylor, a 6-foot-2 sophomore, exploded for 30 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 5 steals to lead Central. King Larkin scored 13 points and had 5 rebounds with 3 steals. Dylan Prince added 9 points.

Hunter Wood led Sulligent with 12 points. Will Chism had 11 points and Noah Chism added 10.

McGill-Toolen 71, Theodore 42: No. 3-ranked McGill-Toolen ran its consecutive win streak to 13 on Tuesday with the win over Theodore in the Portier Center.

Jack Murphy scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half and Bennett Russ added 13 points for the Jackets (23-6) on Senior Night.

Seniors Russ and Alex Heim each scored 5 points to spark the Yellow Jackets to a 15-9 first-quarter lead before senior Alex Shamburger scored 7 of his 9 points in the second quarter to extend the lead to 34-17 at the half.

Russ finished with 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while senior King Johnson hauled in 6 rebounds. Shamburger and senior Ray Andrews, who scored 4 points and had 3 steals, added 5 rebounds each. Heim finished with 5 assists.

Buckhorn 73, Hartselle 43: The fourth-ranked Bucks used big second- and third-quarter bursts to run away with the win on the road on Tuesday. Buckhorn trailed 14-12 after one quarter before taking a 38-28 halftime lead and a 63-40 advantage into the final period.

Carter Malires led the Bucks with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. Caleb Holt scored 14, Jeremiah Wilson had 13 and Jackson Ramsay added 12 for Buckhorn (19-7).

Kiah Key led Hartselle (15-12) with 11 points. Ryan Dunn and Markus Tapscott scored 10 points apiece in the loss.

Pelham 76, Minor 36: The Panthers finished the regular season at 21-8 with a Senior Night win over Minor on Thursday. Pelham led 21-10 after one quarter, 47-25 at the half and carried a 66-34 advantage into the fourth period.

Kamari Hollis led Pelham with 19 points, with 4 coming on big dunks. Joe Wimberly scored 13 in the win.

Pelham plays Briarwood Christian on Wednesday at Helena High School in the first round of the Area 8 tournament. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

On Monday, the Panthers knocked off Mortimer Jordan 70-52 on the road.

Dynarian Long led the winners with 20 points. Wimberly and Hollis scored 13 points apiece for Pelham.

Homewood 76, Bibb County 61: The Patriots closed out Senior Night with the win over Bibb County.

Kiran McCool and Clay Burdeshaw led Homewood with 13 points apiece. McCool knocked down three 3-pointers. Canon Armstead scored 11 points with three 3-point buckets.

Wetumpka 74, Montgomery Academy 67: Wetumpka sent Class 3A Montgomery Academy into the postseason at 13-11 with the win on Thursday.

Skyler Stovall led Montgomery Academy with 21 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. DJ Vinson scored 19 points and hauled in 17 rebounds in the loss. Cole Caddell scored 15 for the Eagles.

Montgomery Academy plays Trinity in the opening round of the 3A Area 6 tournament on Tuesday at St. James.

CLASS 5A

Ramsay 76, Park Crossing 67: The top-ranked Rams picked up the win on the road at 6A Park Crossing in their regular-season finale. Ramsay finishes at 21-6 on the season.

Kerrington Kiel recorded a double-double for Ramsay with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He also had 4 blocks and 4 steals. Jalen Jones scored 16 points with 6 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. QB Reese scored 12 points and Zedrick Powell scored 10 for the Rams. Jay Rilla had 8 points, 4 rebounds and a pair of steals.

Williamson 41, Gulf Shores 31: Robert Brown had 16 points, 4 steals and 4 assists as Williamson won the Area 1 title. The Lions improved to 13-12 overall, 6-0 in Area 1 play.

Silas Evans recorded 10 blocked shots for the winners.

Faith Academy 61, UMS-Wright 55: The Rams pulled away in the third quarter of their home game on Tuesday on the way to the win. Faith led 31-30 at the half before outscoring the visitors 18-9 in the third period.

Faith’s LJ Holifield led all scorers with 25 points.

Bridges Simmons scored 20 points to lead UMS-Wright (17-11). Simmons moved past Sam Haginas into fifth place on the Bulldogs’ all-time scoring list with 1,494 points. Sims Druhan scored 14 points in the loss.

CLASS 4A

Westminster Christian 77, Mars Hill 47: The top-ranked Wildcats won their 10th straight, whipping Class 2A No. 5 Mars Hill at home on Tuesday. Westminster Christian is 23-3 on the season.

Despite sitting the entire fourth quarter, junior Chase McCarty scored a career-high 36 points, hitting 15-of-21 attempts, including 5-of-8 from behind the 3-point arc.

The winners hit 52 percent of their shots from the floor, 9-of-18 on 3-pointers and 12-of-13 from the foul line. Westminster outrebounded the Panthers (18-8) 28-21 and forced the visitors into 17 turnovers, resulting in 24 points for the Wildcats.

Westminster shot 64 percent from the field and took a 46-21 lead at halftime as McCarty scored 24 points. The home team outscored the Panthers 21-13 in the third period.

Junior Collier Lawson scored 11 points for Westminster, sophomore Kaden Rickard had 8 and senior Eric Robinson had 9 assists to go with his 6 points.

Connor Pig led Mars Hill with 12 points. Carson Thrasher scored 11.

On Monday, Westminster went on the road and whipped No. 6 West Morgan 55-27. The Wildcats held the home team to just 20 percent shooting from the field – 8-for-40 – and 23 percent (6-for-26) on 3-pointers.

Westminster outrebounded the Rebels 33-18 with 12 offensive boards that led to 18 points. Wildcats senior Eric Robinson blanketed 6-foot-6 Carson Muse and held West Morgan’s leading scorer to 11 points. Muse hit 3-of-13 shots from the floor against the 6-2 Robinson.

McCarty led the winners with 20 points, hitting 7-of-12 of his shots with a pair of 3-pointers. McCarty was 4-for-5 from the foul line and grabbed 5 rebounds. Senior Tyler Engle – who has hit 10 of his past 13 shots – scored 9 points and had 5 rebounds. Robinson and Rickard had 7 points apiece.

West Morgan fell to 19-6 on the season.

Westminster will host the Area 15 tournament beginning on Tuesday, playing Randolph. Mars Hill will host the 2A Area 16 tournament and will meet the winner of the Tharptown-Sheffield game.

Jacksonville 76, Plainview 52: The second-ranked Golden Eagles exploded for 34 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win at home over 3A No. 3 Plainview. The teams battled to a 28-all stalemate at halftime and were 42-all headed into the final period.

Luke Smith led the winners with 16 points. Landon White scored 12 and Jonah Williams hit three 3-pointers for 9 points for Jacksonville.

UMS-Wright 41, St. Paul’s 25: The Bulldogs pushed a 26-20 halftime advantage to 13 points at the end of the third period on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Finlay Lavelle on the way to the win over 5A St. Paul’s.

Sims Druhan led UMS-Wright (18-11) with 12 points and Joe Lott chipped in 11.

Chris Bracy scored 9 points to lead the Saints.

UMS-Wright hosts the Area 1 tournament on Tuesday and Thursday. The top-seeded Bulldogs will meet No. 4 St. Michael at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. No. 2 Bayside Academy vs. No. 3 Orange Beach opens the tournament at 5:30 p.m.

Brewbaker Tech 60, Prattville Christian 50: The home team sent Prattville Christian into the postseason with a 14-16 record with the win at home on Thursday.

Carson Roberson led Prattville Christian with 16 points. Conner Williams had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Cade Segars scored 10 points and had 5 assists.

PCA travels to Wilcox Central on Tuesday to play Booker T. Washington Magnet at 5 p.m. in the Area 5 tournament.

Priceville 56, Madison County 51: The Bulldogs closed out their regular season at home with a come-from-behind victory.

Madison County jumped out to an early 19-8 lead after one period, but Priceville (13-13) closed the gap to 27-25 at halftime. The visitors held a 39-38 lead headed into the final quarter.

Priceville took its first lead early in the period on a Sammy Holmes put-back. Luke Hood scored 8 points in the fourth to stretch the lead.

Holmes led all scorers with 17 points and he grabbed 8 rebounds. Hood had 11 points and 4 assists. Cole Lindeman scored 14 points and had 5 rebounds with 5 assists. Jake Langlois claimed 12 rebounds for the winners.

Haleyville 66, Curry 41: Seventh-ranked Haleyville clinched the Area 12 title with the runaway win on the road. Drake James led the Lions with 18 points (14-13). Bryant James scored 12 points for the winners and Rome Yarbrough added 11.

Haleyville will host the area tournament for the third time in four years.

Dale County 49, Ariton 46: The Warriors ran their record to 16-12 with the win over Class 2A No. 4 Ariton on the road on Thursday. The Purple Cats dropped to 17-9 on the season.

Freshman Junior Smith led Dale County with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Senior Nick McCarter added 11 points with 9 rebounds.

Lawson Leger led Ariton with 15 points. Landon Tyler scored 10 for the Cats.

CLASS 3A

Montgomery Academy 60, LAMP 41: The Eagles beat 4A LAMP on the road on Tuesday.

Skyler Stovall led the winners with 17 points. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists. Cole Caddell scored 15 points. DJ Vinson had 9 points and 7 rebounds. JaShawn Cooper grabbed 8 rebounds to go with his 6 points. Brewer Welch scored 7 points and had 4 assists.

On Monday, the Eagles beat 4A Prattville Christian 60-49 at home for Senior Night. Montgomery Academy outscored PCA 32-15 in the final two quarters.

Stovall led the winners with 16 points. He also had 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Vinson had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds with 4 blocked shots and 3 assists. Welch chipped in 9 points and had 4 assists.

Brady Roberson led the Panthers with 14 points and Carson Roberson scored 12. PJ Evans scored 10 points and claimed 5 rebounds.

Dale County 58, Rehobeth 53: The Warriors improved to 14-12 with the road win on Monday.

Christian Ross tossed in 25 points and had 6 rebounds for Dale County. Andrevius Smith scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the win. Isaiah Griffin scored 15 points and had 9 rebounds and Jamarvion Scott dished out 11 assists.

CLASS 2A

Luverne 53, Georgiana 52: The Tigers picked up the narrow home victory over Georgiana (16-9) on Tuesday.

Nasir Cheatham registered a double-double for the visitors with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Kaveon Miles led Georgiana with 13 points. Jacob Lowery added 11 in the loss.

CLASS 1A

Brantley 61, Straughn 54: The fourth-ranked Bulldogs earned their 20th win of the season at home on Thursday. Brantley improved to 20-3 on the year.

Jayden Parks led Brantley with 23 points. Jordan Parks hit five 3-pointers for his 15 points on the night.

GIRLS

CLASS 7A

Sparkman 87, Austin 22: The second-ranked Senators improved to 21-8 with the rout at home.

Senior Kennedy Langham led Sparkman with 28 points. Freshman Hannah Horton scored 21 in the win.

Sparkman will host the Area 7 tournament beginning on Tuesday. The top-seeded Senators will meet No. 4 Albertville at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Sparkman captured the area regular-season title with a 56-39 win over Huntsville. Sparkman finished 6-0 in area play.

Langham led Sparkman with 20 points.

Alma Bryant 80, Chickasaw 30: The freshmen Grayson twins led the Hurricanes to the rout of 2A Chickasaw on Thursday to wrap up coach Alaina Peacock’s first season at 13-14. Mari-Margret Grayson poured in 32 points to lead Alma Bryant. Madi-Marie Grayson added 18 for the Hurricanes.

On Senior Night on Wednesday, Alma Bryant whipped Satsuma 69-43. Madi-Marie Grayson scored 31 points to lead the winners and Mari-Margret Grayson finished with 13.

Alma Bryant’s lone senior, Carlee Barnes, scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, had 4 assists and 2 steals.

Alma Bryant plays at Mary G. Montgomery at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Area 1 tournament.

CLASS 6A

McGill-Toolen 50, Theodore 28: The fourth-ranked Yellow Jackets opened the Senior Night game with a 17-3 run on the way to the rout of Theodore on Tuesday. All five seniors scored, led by Anna Reed McNeece with 18 points and Lindsey Cox with 10.

Jazmyn Bigham led Theodore with 10 points.

McGill-Toolen closed out the regular season at 24-5 and 6-0 in Area 2 play and will host the area tournament next week.

Homewood 50, Bibb County 24: The Patriots improved to 22-7 on the year with the home win on Tuesday. Homewood used an 18-2 second quarter to lead 24-7 at the half and led 35-18 after three quarters.

Junior Kayla Warren scored 20 points to lead Homewood. Mira McCool had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and a blocked shot.

CLASS 5A

Williamson 33, Gulf Shores 26: The 10th-ranked Lions improved to 15-6 and 6-0 in Area 1 with the win on Tuesday. Ta’Myla Allen topped Williamson’s scorers with 12 points.

Maggie Myers led Gulf Shores with 8 points.

Holtville 51, Thorsby 41: The Bulldogs improved to 24-4 with the road win at Thorsby on Tuesday.

Julie Nekolna and sophomore Ana Brown led Holtville with 13 points each. Nekolna also grabbed 14 rebounds. Kaila Higgins and Holly Smith scored 11 points each in the win.

Holtville will host Maplesville on Friday to close the regular season before hosting the Area 6 tournament beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs beat Stanhope Elmore 56-54 on Monday, earning their first lead of the night with 1:07 left in the game as Ana Brown hit a layup and a free throw to complete the 3-point play and Holtville’s defense kept the home team off the board the rest of the way.

Nekolna, a 6-foot-3 foreign exchange student from the Czech Republic, poured in 33 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, blocked 5 shots, made 4 steals and had 4 assists for Holtville. Brown finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Madison Academy 66, Scottsboro 36: The Mustangs rolled to the home win over Scottsboro behind a balanced offensive attack. Three Madison Academy players hit double figures in the win.

Emily Mouser led MA with 19 points. Regan Boyd scored 15 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 4 steals and 2 assists. Brooklynn Tucker scored 11 points and had 6 rebounds for the Mustangs in the loss. Jordyn Blackwell had 9 points and 5 rebounds while Roslyn Rice had 8 rebounds to go with her 8 points.

Carroll-Ozark 58, Barbour County 39: Ameyah Gray poured in 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Eagles (20-6) to the win on the road on Tuesday.

Taliyah Carter scored 10 points and had 4 steals for the Eagles. Lauriel Lynn hauled down 11 rebounds in the win and Tyazia Newman had 8.

Enasia Ivory led Barbour County with 15 points. Brakiah Russell pitched in 12 for the Jaguars.

On Monday, the Eagles beat Highland Home 51-32 with three players in double figures. Carter led Carroll with 14 points. She also had 7 rebounds. Gray had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Zymirria Glanton scored 11 points and Newman grabbed 9 rebounds.

Taisa June led Highland Home with 13 points.

CLASS 4A

Priceville 73, Madison County 21: The Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night on Thursday with a big win over Madison County. Priceville (18-8) jumped to a 25-8 first-quarter lead and led 45-16 at the half.

Leslie Hames led the winners with 24 points. She also grabbed 5 rebounds and made 3 steals. Senior Zoey Benson pitched in 20 points and had 4 steals for Priceville. Senior Lauren Hames scored 11 points and had 4 rebounds. Ashlyn Johnson dished out 8 assists and had 3 steals to go with her 6 points. Gracin Prater had 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Abby Langlois grabbed 4 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.

Jaedyn Speights scored 8 points for Madison County.

On Monday, the Bulldogs beat Fairview 70-31, racing to a 17-4 first-quarter lead and a 33-17 halftime margin. Priceville carried a 61-29 lead into the final quarter.

Leslie Hames led the winners with 24 points. Lauren Hames scored 17 for the Bulldogs and Langlois scored 9 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Benson had 6 rebounds to go with her 6 points.

Darby Nichols led Fairview with 10 points.

Deshler 65, Priceville 61: Second-ranked Deshler held off the Bulldogs to pick up the home win on Tuesday. After trailing 13-6 after one quarter, the Tigers outscored the visitors 24-13 in the second and 20-16 in the third to carry a 50-42 lead into the final quarter. Priceville outscored the home team 19-15 in the final quarter to narrow the margin.

Chloe Siegel and Reese Davis led Deshler with 18 points each. Reagan Rickard scored 16 in the win.

Zoey Benson had a double-double in the loss, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Lauren Hames led Priceville with 23 points. She also had 6 rebounds. Leslie Hames scored 15 points and had 3 assists. Ashlyn Johnson had 8 rebounds and Gracin Prater had 6 assists.

Prattville Christian 47, Brewbaker Tech 35: The third-ranked Panthers ran their record to 26-2 with the road win on Thursday.

Hannah Jones led the winners with 14 points. Avery Rogers had 12 points and 4 assists. Kayden Carr scored 11 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. CoCo Thomas hauled in 13 rebounds and had 6 steals.

PCA will play at St. James on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

On Monday, Prattville Christian whipped Montgomery Academy 68-16. Jones led the way with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.

Carr scored 14 points with 6 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds for PCA. Thomas scored 14 points with 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Jenna McClendon added 10 points and 4 rebounds.

New Hope 73, North Jackson 21: The fifth-ranked Indians pounded Area 14 foe North Jackson at home on Tuesday.

Sophomore Kaylee Yarbrough led New Hope (18-5) with 36 points.

East Lawrence 48, Danville 44: The Eagles held off 3A Danville to get the road win on Thursday. The visitors jumped to a 16-6 first-quarter lead and led 26-20 at the half. The teams played to a 13-all stalemate in the third period before Danville outscored East Lawrence 11-9 in the final period.

Jordyn Beck tossed in 19 points – 10 in the first quarter – to lead the winners. Hannah Hill and Kyndall West scored 7 points each for East Lawrence.

Ella Kate Tidwell led the Hawks with 15 points with 7 coming on 7-of-8 shooting from the foul line. Elisabeth Hand added 11 for Danville.

CLASS 3A

Cottage Hill 48, Satsuma 42 (OT): The Warriors rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to top 4A Satsuma in overtime at home on Monday.

Cottage Hill’s Dakota Freeman hit a layup with 1:30 left in regulation to tie the game.

Taylor Davidson led the winners with 15 points and Ashlyn Newton tossed in 12. Freeman added 9 for the Warriors (12-8).

CLASS 2A

Luverne 55, Georgiana 37: The Panthers dropped to 8-13 on the season with the loss at Luverne on Tuesday. Lillie Boggan had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Boggan also had 4 assists.

Hatton 55, Danville 47: The Hornets beat Danville on Tuesday at home.

Danville’s Ella Kate Tidwell scored 9 points and Lanie Martin had 8. Maddie Sherrill grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss.

AISA

Lakeside 64, Macon East 28: Eighth-ranked Lakeside rolled in its final regular-season game on Monday.

Chloe Helms led the Chiefs (11-9) with 26 points. Eliza Erickson scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Jayden Green scored 11 points and had 9 rebounds.

The Chiefs will play the winner of Jackson Academy and Pickens Academy in the Elite Eight on Monday.
