Mobile city officials will consider a proposal next week that would likely make the mayor the highest-paid in Alabama.

The city council will vote next Tuesday on a resolution to set the salary at $195,000, an increase of 56% over the current salary of $125,000. If approved, Mobile’s mayoral salary will be higher than the 21 largest cities in Alabama and eclipse Bessemer’s mayor, who earns around $182,000 in total annual compensation.
