When is the Super Bowl? Time, place, what to know
The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will square off in Super Bowl LIX at 5:30 p.m. CST Feb. 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
FOX will televise the NFL’s championship game for the 2024 season.
The Eagles won the NFC championship by beating the Washington Commanders 55-23 on Sunday. The Chiefs won the AFC championship by beating the Buffalo Bills 32-29 on Sunday.
Kansas City is playing in the NFL title game for the third season in the row and the fifth time in six seasons.
The Chiefs defeated Philadelphia 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12, 2023, then beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, 2024. That puts Kansas City in position to become the first team to win the Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons.
The Chiefs have played in the Super Bowl six times, with four victories. The Eagles have won once in their four previous Super Bowl appearances. Philadelphia defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4, 2018.
Kansas City has a 17-2 record this season. The Chiefs lost to Buffalo 30-21 on Nov. 17 and to the Denver Broncos 38-0 on Jan. 5 in the regular-season finale. Because the latter game had no effect on Kansas City’s playoff seeding, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and many other of the Chiefs’ top players were kept on the sideline.
Philadelphia has a 17-3 record. The Eagles’ only loss since Sept. 29 came on Dec. 22, when the Commanders downed Philadelphia 36-33. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left that game in the second quarter after sustaining a concussion.
On Monday, BetMGM has the Chiefs as a 1.5-point Super Bowl favorite.
The 59th Super Bowl will be the 11th played in New Orleans. That will tie the Crescent City with Miami as the cities that have hosted the most games. In the most recent NFL championship game in New Orleans, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3, 2013.
Kendrick Lamar is scheduled to be the Super Bowl halftime entertainer, with special guest SZA.
