11 inches of snow in south Alabama? See statewide snowfall totals from historic winter storm
The National Weather Service had warned about a “significant” and “historic” snowstorm for south Alabama on Tuesday, and forecasters were right.
Parts of south Alabama got record-setting amounts of snow on Tuesday.
So did the other Gulf Coast states.
Mobile got 7.5 inches on Tuesday, which shattered its all-time record for snow, which had stood since 1895.
But that wasn’t the most. Other spots in south Alabama had 10 or more inches of snow, according to reports given to the weather service.
One of the top amounts was 11 inches in Babbie in Covington County.
Central Alabama also got a good amount of snow on Tuesday. One of the higher amounts there was 6 inches near Springhill in Pike County.
