Historic snowfall in south Alabama: See pictures, videos from Mobile
For the second time in two weeks snow is falling in Alabama, but on this occasion the weather event is targeted in the southern portion of the state.
According to the National Weather Service, this winter storm could be “historic” for south Alabama with some counties potentially receiving up to 3 or 4 inches of snow on Tuesday.
Forecasters even predict that snow is likely to fall along the local beaches.
Citizens that live in areas affected by the winter storm are advised to be cautious when driving due to precipitation making the roadways dangerous.
On Monday, Gov. Kay Ivey issued a state of emergency declaration for 39 counties in anticipation of the winter weather.
Southern parts of central Alabama will also see about 3 inches of snow, but north Alabama is not expected to see any snowfall. However, it will remain cold throughout the entire state into Wednesday.
